The Peer Board

A key component of the Ben Wills Charitable Foundation is its Peer Board.   Ben valued his opinions being heard and respected.  In Ben's honor, the Foundation shall invest in educating the next generation and enabling them to elevate philanthropy through mentorship and opportunity.   In death, as in life, Ben managed to bring together those in his orbit.  He was incredibly entrepreneurial and had a voracious appetite for experiential knowledge.   He loved to talk and connect with people of every age and stature in life.  It is in this spirit that the Foundation has an ancillary board of Junior Advisors or Peers.  The Peer Board guides the Foundation's philanthropy while learning about nonprofits and board service with the ultimate goal of generational growth.  We strive to foster his spirit by supporting charitable causes that  create community and opportunities for young adults to work alongside the adults whom Ben admired.  The Foundation respects the views of the Board and Peer Board equally and seeks to empower Ben's peers to leadership.

VP, Pi Kappa Phi, Alpha Chapter

I  am proud to represent the Alpha Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi on the board and glad to call myself one of Ben’s fraternity brothers, and to have experienced his joy, his infectious smile and famous hugs. Ben may only have been a member of the fraternity for a few months  before his sudden death, but his impact is lasting.

As Ben’s cousin, I am honored to be part of a foundation that honors his memory. I’m excited to work with the Peer Board to support the community through different causes that I know Ben would have cared about. One of my favorite memories with Ben is when we had beach bonfires and roasted marshmallows with our family.
