Ben was a freshman at the College of Charleston who died suddenly from COVID related heart complications days after his 19th birthday. He was an extraordinary young man with big dreams for the life that lay ahead of him. Born and raised in the Metro DC area, Ben attended schools in Maryland, Connecticut, South Carolina and spent summers at camps in North Carolina and Vermont, through which he forged communities of friends across the country. Some friends share sentiments about Ben Wills.
"Headphones not speakers". Listen to Ben explain his goals and life path in his own words. "Once a day to make someone smile or laugh".
Ben was genuinely one of a kind. He impacted everyone he met, that is clear with the outpouring of support and love we have received from others memorializing him.
Ben was a gentle giant, he cared about those around him and found it important that everyone felt recognized and heard.
He was passionate about music, sports, cooking, and making memories with family and friends.
Anyone who was lucky enough to have Ben in their life knew the special way he was able to make you know he cared about you.
Ben was a protector. He always looked out for everyone and made sure that they felt safe. There are not enough words to describe how special Ben was. His goal in life was just to make sure that everyone around him was happy and taken care of.
I am lucky to have many memories with my brother to the point where picking a favorite would be nearly impossible.
We have formed this non-profit 501(c)(3) Charitable Foundation in Ben's honor to continue his legacy of generosity and compassion. As a family we hope that this foundation will be able to bring opportunities and support to those in need and honor his name.
