Tributes & Tats: images of impact

The Meaning of 1454

Pi  Kappa Phi is a National Panhellenic organization founded at the College of Charleston  in 1904. Charleston's founding chapter, being the first, is known as the Alpha Chapter.  Since its inception, every initiated brother was assigned an “Alpha Number” which represents their initiation order into the chapter. 1454 was Ben’s Alpha number, representing that he was the 1454th person initiated into the Alpha chapter. 1454 will be forever remembered in the Alpha chapter

A poem composed and shared in tribute

BEAUTIFUL BEN by Mary Zwirn

Belongs to the ages, never forgotten

Beautiful face, heart and soul

Each memory forever to be treasured

Equal to the best this world gives

Actions that will continue to reach out

And bless those that were touched

Universal light will remain bright

Uniting friends, strangers and family

Time will not dim the art of caring

This will be shared lovingly

Include daily the joy of memory

Instead of tears remember the gifts

Find a pain free path to spread this

Follow your heart from each lesson

Useful steps will be taken daily

Until the world is loving, never stop

Lead with gentle words so others learn

Lift yourself for Ben, remembering joy

Continuing the legacy

Ben's fraternity brother, Max Harrell

will be competing in the Ironman 70.3 in Augusta, GA on September 24th. Following that he will run a marathon on November 5th in Charolette, NC. This will all be done to raise money for the Ben Wills foundation and to remind people to be kind.
